South River EMC is excited to announce a partnership with HomeServe to offer home-protection plans to members. A protection plan from HomeServe replaces the Utility Shield program from IGS Energy, which enables eligible members to continue to enroll in protection plans. Information on these plans will be available in the coming months. Rest assured, if you were already enrolled in a plan through the Utility Shield program, your plan was automatically transferred over to a plan from HomeServe with the same coverage benefits.

Many homeowners are not aware that they are responsible for the cost of repairs to vital home systems. In some cases, repair costs could cost hundreds of dollars and many homeowners are not prepared to handle the costs of unexpected breakdowns. 

Protection plans from HomeServe provide financial relief from the cost of covered repairs due to breakdowns caused by normal wear and tear.

• Eligible South River EMC members in North Carolina will be able to sign up for optional service plans to cover home repairs.

• Protection plans provide members with access to a HomeServe 24/7, 365 repair hotline, as well as local, licensed, and insured technicians that will come to members’ homes to fix covered repairs.
